Steve Estes has been a full-time professional numismatist since 1963. This business motto guided his actions when buying and selling coins: "doing business the old-fashioned way - quality coins, fair prices, and excellent customer service."
As a consultant, Steve continues these principles, offering personal service, fair and honest market based information, and viable options for disposal of holdings. Options will vary depending upon the scope and quality of collections.
Summary of Expertise
Steve is recognized for developing and implementing a 1-10 scale for assessing the eye appeal of certified coins, helping the collector compare any coin to an average coin for that issue and grade. Steve is an acknowledged expert in Morgan Dollars and other US coin series. He is experienced in foreign coins, US and world currency.
Select Notable Collections Assembled and/or Dispersed
US National Bank of Oregon Collection. Assembled in the 1940s and 1950s, this massive collection contained remarkable rarities, including a set of proof coins from 1860 to 1907 and a pair of Oregon Beaver gold coins. Sadly, the collection had been damaged due to improper handling and care. Steve appraised and facilitated dispersal of the collection.
Spokane Businessman's Collection. Steve met the collector in Spokane during the 1970s and worked with him for the remainder of his life. The businessman's holdings were massive, complex and varied. Steve assembled a superb collection of Large Cents; a remarkable collection of Indian Peace Medals, Naval, Military and Lifesaving Medals; a set of Bust Halves; a complete choice high grade set of Dollars and much more. One coin of special note: 1800 Bust Dollar, MS-63. Steve handled the assembly, accumulation and dispersal of all holdings.
Quiet Couple's Collection. Steve assembled and later dispersed a nearly complete set of Charlotte and Dahlonega $5 gold pieces; a set of Bust Halves; a selection of Bust Dollars and more.
Southland Doctor's Collection. Steve helped the collector assemble a stunning, well matched set of Buffalo Nickels which ultimately sold at auction for value substantially exceeding the collected grade.
Undertaker's Collection. This collection included a full set of $20 Liberty gold coins from 1850 to 1907.
Accumunlations or Collections Small and Large. From small accumulations and partial collections to large, complex and complete holdings - each is notable to those who devoted time and resources to fulfill a collecting passion. Each deserves attention to discern its value.
