The grading of coins is an inexact science. All grading -- even by third-party services -- is subjective opinion. Numismatists with comparable experience and knowledge may or may not agree with another's grade.

Steve Estes grades all raw coins in our inventory based on knowledge and experience from nearly 45 years as a rare coin dealer. The grade (Steve's opinion) takes into account a variety of technical considerations specific to the issue and current marketplace. While there is often consensus, we cannot guarantee another experienced numismatist or grading service will exactly match Steve's opinion. Possibilities include: agreement, assignment of higher grade, assignment of lower grade, and no grade. This is the reality of the coin industry.

It is in the collector's best interest to gain knowledge and experience to formulate his/her own opinion concerning grading coins. If a collector is not knowledgeable or experienced enough to personally agree or disagree with the grade of a coin, we recommend that collector purchase only certified coins.

A collector who buys raw coins and submits them for certification (through Steve Estes, P.N., Inc. or any other manner) does so at his/her own risk. Our return policy: coins may be returned within 10 days of receipt.
